Combining top-quality international researchers, audacious technology providers and professionals within the sensory simulation, content creation, and in audio-visual field, The Box research project will help investors and industry operators tackle complex issues with a better understanding of the potential opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in the future experiences.
Focusing on business related cases, The Box aims to create a concept which uses several technologies in order to create chromatic atmospheres in different commercial settings. Leveraging the best practices of the Virtual reality (VR), and the Augmented Reality (AR) researches, The Box will exploit into unforeseen Mixed Reality Environments (MRE).
The pre-programmable and scripted chromatic atmospheres will exploit the existing knowledge of Soundscape, Psychoacoustic, Sensory Stimulation, Haptic Feedback and Augmented Reality. Starting from a small scale service laboratory setting in Haaga-Helia UAS campus, the project will evolve into a hotel room where the customers can modify the atmospherics during their stay, and finally to a portable unit with abundant possibilities. With constant measurement the project aims to define the optimal chromatic atmospheres for increasing the customer value in variety of hospitality, tourism, and experience settings.
Funded by the industry partners and the Finnish Agency for Innovations (TEKES), an integral part of the Box research project is the partnership with international researchers from three renowned educational institutions: Manchester Metropolitan University, University of Algarve, NHTV Breda, and Hotelschool The Hague.
Correspondingly the industry partners Pixoi, Flik Media Group, Fantasiaworks, Metos, Hotel Haaga, CMB restaurants, Sinebrychoff, Ähtäri Zoo, and Pinto Design will contribute to the research and the dissemination of the results.
